AN INVESTIGATION has been launched into the death of a woman following a blaze at her Mildenhall home.
The woman, who has not yet been named, died after her home caught fire during the early hours of yesterday morning.

Fire crews from Newmarket, Mildenhall and Brandon were called to Woodlands Park in Brandon Road, Mildenhall, shortly before 3am.

After tackling the blaze, firefighters found the body of a woman in the kitchen of a ground-floor flat.

Inspector Mike Hinselwood, of Suffolk Police, said: "The fire broke out in a large building in Woodlands Park, Mildenhall, which was divided into several flats.

"Following the fire, one of the occupants of a ground-floor flat was found dead in her kitchen.

"Although there is no immediate suspicion that anything untoward has taken place, a joint investigation between Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service will be carried out."

The property, which is owned by Bury St Edmunds-based estate agents Goymour Homes, was still cordoned off yesterday.

One other person was rescued from the incident and treated by paramedics at the scene.

A spokesman for the East Anglian Ambulance Service said: We received a call to Woodlands park at 2.57am and treated one person at the scene who was unconscious. No-one was taken to hospital.
