WEST Row primary school could soon be home to a new children's nursery should it secure funding for a new building.
After drawing up plans for a new nursery over the last couple of years, the school is now ready to apply for funding from Suffolk County Council's Childcare Starts Here fund.

News of the move will come as a major boost to parents in the village after the recent closure of Nippers Nursery in neighbouring Mildenhall.

Headteacher Geraldine Ciantar said: "We have had a lot of parents ask us if we could run a pre-school as there are no amenities like it in the village. Earlier in the year, we sent out a questionnaire and the response was fantastic."

The new pre-school, which would be open to all in the village and the surrounding area, would be able to cater for 24 children.

Should the application be successful, the new nursery could be up and running by Easter.

Miss Ciantar added: "We have the builder ready to start work and there is already a waiting list of children."

The school will find out its fate in early December.
