A NEWMARKET school has opened a state-of-the art £30,000 playground for its youngsters.
All Saints' Primary School celebrated the opening of the new play area by Archdeacon John Cox, the director of education for the Diocese of St Edmundsbury.

Children from the school joined the archdeacon as he cut the ribbon for the area, which includes an all-weather playing surface, sand pit, planting beds, musical instruments, talking flowers and play house.

It also includes a canopy so children can play in all weathers.

"It will enable us to improve learning in the reception class by giving the children free access to a safe, purpose-built area," said headteacher Jane Eccleston.

"Learning outdoors is a vital part of the curriculum for this age group and we are delighted to have such an improved facility."
