THIEVES stole several mobile phones and purses from the changing rooms of Ely City Football Club while at match was being played at the club's Unwin Ground.
They entered the empty changing rooms between 7.30pm and 10.10pm on Wednesday, November 5, while the Cambridgeshire women's side were playing the Huntingdonshire women's team.

Derek Oakey, Ely City club secretary, said: "There are notices up warning people not to leave valuables in the changing rooms.

"All I can say to players is just make sure these sort of things are taken out of the changing rooms before playing a game."

Rachel Carr, crime reduction officer with Cambridgeshire Police, added: "When playing sport, try to leave valuable items at home in a secure location.

"If this is not possible, ensure that you are leaving valuables in a secure place and not on display."

Anyone with information should contact the community safety unit at Parkside Police Station, Cambridge on 0845 456456.
