FORMER Newmarket and Mildenhall forward Andrew Claydon grabbed a brace for Felixstowe & Walton as Ely City suffered their biggest defeat of the season on Saturday.
The visitors got off to the perfect start when Ben Lawrence rose highest to head home a corner after just two minutes.

Ten minutes later, the home side were back on level terms when Bradley Barber volleyed home from the edge of the area.

Minute
s later, Felixstowe took the lead when Claydon grabbed his first goal of the game following a good pass from midfield.

Ely were then hit on the counter attack on 23 minutes when Danny Stanley carried the ball from his own area before firing a shot past Ely's Leigh Follen in goal.

Things got worse for the visitors just before the break when Claydon laid the ball off to Danny Philips, who made it 4-1 with a sweet volley.

In the second half, Ely pressed for a way back into the game and were unlucky when Andy Pettit's strike was ruled out by the assistant referee.

Goals from Claydon and substitute Andrew Lewis then put the game beyond Ely, who did at least grab a second when Darren Mills headed into his own net in the closing minutes.

Ely's Cambs Invitation Cup game against Great Shelford was called off on Tuesday night due to a waterlogged pitch.
