A POSITIVE start from both sides saw chances at either end before Chesham striker Darrell Cox gacve his side the lead in the 14th minute when he capitalised on a partly cleared free kick, firing in at the near post.
This goal seemed to spur the visitors on, as they started to have the better of the play, but Soham dealt well with their attacks well.

Just when it looked as though Chesham would go into the break in front, Soham equalised. Andy Furnell laid Scot
t Johnson's deep left-sided delivery back into the path of Paul Jones, who fired an unstoppable shot past Underwood.

Jones was in the thick of the goalmouth action at the other end when he was forced to clear over Soham's bar in the 49th minute, following a break from Marsala down the right hand side.

The resulting corner was again cleared into the path of Cox who scored from close range.

The striker could have completed his hat-trick moments later but fired into the side netting.

Chesham made their first change just before the hour when Phil Turner replaced Parker and it was the substitute that secured Chesham the three points in the 66th minute.

Soham failed to make the most of a corner, with the visitors breaking quickly up field.

Turner received the ball and took it past Johnson, before going into the area, past Jordan and rolling the ball into an empty net.

With fifteen minutes remaining, Soham made a double change bringing on Callum Kearns and Kentoh Gray for Furnell and Martin Bromwich as they tried to get back into the game.

The hosts created some good chances going forward with Billy Smith probably having their best effort when he beat Talbot down the right to get to the by-line, only to see his cross-come-shot come back off the post, while Darren Jimson fired high at Underwood.
