ROB Huff ended the World Touring Car series on a high note when he won the final race of the championship in Macau at the weekend.
The Red Lodge-based driver's podium finish in the finale ensured that he finished third in the drivers' table.
After qualifying in fourth place for the first of the weekend's two races, Huff made a flying start to overtake champion elect Yvan Muller on the opening lap to move up to third.
His challenge for second place ended when he was forced into a wall by 2007 champion Andy Priaulx, pushing him back down to fifth – the place in which he crossed the line.
After being squeezed out of the penultimate round, Huff soon made amends by winning an incident packed finale.
For most of the race, he was embroiled in a five-car fight for fourth with Jordi Gene, Muller, Priaulx and Alain Menu, before events up front played into his hands.
A bump between former British Touring Champion James Thompson and the Brazilian BMW driver Augusto Farfus on the penultimate lap saw the former hit a wall and the latter lose a tyre.
The tyre caused further havoc when third-placed Gabriele Tarquini drove into it launching his car into the air and out of the race leaving Huff in the lead.
After cautiously seeing out the final two laps, Huff took the chequered flag and the 10 points as he recorded his second win of the season.
He said: "I am very pleased with this win – but I was very lucky.
"In my mind I had already settled for fourth, when all of a sudden everybody in front of me went off.
"This is the perfect farewell for the Chevrolet Lacetti which has been a fantastic car for us these past four years."
Final drivers' table: 1 Y Muller (Seat) 114 points; 2 G Tarquini (Seat) 88; 3 R Huff (Chevrolet) 87; 4 A Priaulx (BMW) 81; 5 R Rydell (Seat) 77.
