MILDENHALL Town crashed to a 2-1 defeat as their opponents Needham Market leapfrogged them in the league table with the three points.
Leading goalscorer Robbie Harris claimed a goal for visiting Mildenhall but it was not enough as strikes from James Evans and debutant Matt Dixon saw last season's FA Vase semi-finalists claim the victory.
The first meaningful chance of the match
fell to Stephen Spriggs, but the Mildenhall winger's luck was out when he saw his curling free kick crash against the crossbar after 15 minutes.
Shaun Marshall then denied Danny Smy with a smart save from close range but in their next attack hosts Needham took the lead.
Daniel Thrower's deep right wing cross was met by James Evans at the back post and the Needham number seven turned the ball past a helpless Marshall.
As the half drew to a close Thrower almost got himself on the scoresheet, but Marshall was equal to his effort.
The second half started badly for the visitors when Dixon, recently signed from Walsham-le-Willows, beat the offside trap before firing an unstoppable shot into the bottom corner.
The introduction of Tony Scully sprung life into Mildenhall and with 15 minutes remaining it was his cross which found Harris 12 yards from goal.
The former King's Lynn forward neatly chested the ball down before unleashing a composed effort which beat Liam Jones in the home goal.
Mildenhall enjoyed a lot of possession in the remaining minutes but failed to produce a recognisable effort on goal.
Mildenhall 1, Sudbury 2 - Suffolk Premier Cup
Mildenhall Town crashed out of the Suffolk Premier Cup at the quarter final stage with a 2-1 defeat at home to AFC Sudbury on Tuesday.
The hosts took the lead after 29 minutes when a free kick from wide on the left from Stephen Spriggs evaded everyone to nestle in the back of the net.
With 15 minutes remaining, Sudbury substitute James Rowe curled a superb effort beyond the reach of Shaun Marshall in the home goal.
In their very next attack, Mildenhall almost regained the lead through Spriggs but his powerful effort just missed the target.
The visitors grabbed the winner with seven minutes remaining courtesy of Kevin Hawes, who headed in unchallenged at the back post.
