BURWELL had to dig deep to come from two goals down to secure their place in the second round of the John Ablett Cup.
The home side dominated a scoreless first half but found themselves one down straight from the re-start. They fell further behind when the Swifts' defence was woefully exposed.

Tom Thatcher got them back in the game when he took advantage of defensive indecision to put the ball under the keeper.

And the hosts drew level when a Lol Maskell corner was powerfully met by Alan Nash, whose header deflected off a couple of defenders before going in.

With the match heading into extra-time, neither side could carve out any real chances which meant the match went to penalties.

Thatcher, Darren Brodie and Danny Jones all scored, while the unlucky Matt Baker, playing his last game, saw his effort come back off the upright.
