NEWMARKET Town's search for a fourth consecutive win was undone when their match against Brantham Athletic had to be abandoned after a visiting player broke his leg.
Town, who were leading 2-1 when the game was brought to a premature end in the 69th minute, had looked odds-on to open up a five-point gap at the top of Division One thanks to two goals in the opening 10 minutes.

Dave Grainger and Lee Salmons, who have scored 15 times this season, were both on target before the visitors pulled a goal back just before half time.

The game was then abandoned with 20 minutes remaining after a Brantham forward broke his leg following a heavy collision with Town's on-loan keeper Sean Greygoose.

Newmarket's Cambs Invitation Cup game against Waterbeach was another to fall victim to the weather on Tuesday as a waterlogged pitch meant it had to postponed.
