NEWMARKET Rugby Club winger Juan Goity, above, made his debut for Germany in front of 2,000 spectators in the Olympic stadium in Berlin on Saturday.
The fixture, against a Welsh Clubs XV, was a warm-up game for the German national side before the start of the European Division One championship.
Goity, who hails from Argentina but has dual nationality, joined the Newmarket club this season from Puerto Madryn in Argentina.
A tight first half saw the Germans, who are currently ranked 25th in the world, lead by nine points to eight at the interval.
However, the Welsh side imposed themselves more in the second period and added three further tries, with a solitary try in response by the hosts.
Goity, who played for the first 65 minutes of the game before being substituted, said: "I made a couple of mistakes but also made some good decisions and I was happy with how it went."
